Parade & Festival!!
The North County St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is accepting applications for parade floats and vendors to be part of the 2nd annual North County St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival on Saturday March 16, 2013. This year’s theme will reflect on the City of Vista 50th birthday.
We want you. If you, your service group or business would like to be in the 2nd annual North County St. Patrick’s Parade please call the VVBA at 760-414-9391 for more information and to obtain a Parade participation form. We will be having three possible awards for parade participants: Best 30 second Performance, Best Irish Theme and Best Dog Costume. Standard parade entry is $35.00, Dog Entry is $5.00, Corporate/Business Entry is $50.00 and Non-profit is $25.00. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30AM and last approximately 1 hour. The Village Opportunity Drawing for Gold
Gold! Gold! Gold! That’s what you will be looking for this St. Patrick’s Day at the annual North County St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. Purchase tickets to win a gold coin valued over $200.00, sponsored by John Shakarian Jeweler. Tickets are available prior to the event through the VVBA and at the Info booth during the event. Miss North County Celtic Queen
The North County Celtic Queen Pageant crowned our newest Miss Celtic Queen. The pageant was sponsored by Allstate Insurance and held on Saturday September 15, 2012 at the AVO Playhouse. Contestant agreed that if crowned, she will act as the Official Hostess of and participate in all activities connected to the North County St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, as well as all future publicity for the 2013 event. Limerick Reading and Writing
Would you like to write your own Limerick? Be part of the fun of this very old Irish Tradition. The Village Idiots will have LIMERICK WRITING AND READING FEST at the Limerick reading will be held at Art Beat on Main Street (330 Main Street, Vista, CA 92084), from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. This is a no cost event. We will simply offer some time writing and then participants will have the opportunity to read their Limericks aloud to the group. Come join in the fun after the parade and share in these quirky, lively and witty short poems. The best Limericks will be published on our website and Facebook pages. Beer Garden and Concert
Enjoy a craft beer from the Aztec Brewery at the Beer Garden. All Beer is donated by Aztec Brewery. Beer Garden is 21 and over event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Music Ubiquitous mission to bring music education to students of all ages, including adults. They have created programs that teach students the essential elements of music while teaching them to work with others as they create a shared music product.
Please take the SPRINTER for a safe St. Patrick’s Day Experience. Concert will be performed by our Grand Marshall, Celtic Fiddler, Celia Lawley at noon followed by Steelin’ Tin at 2:00pm-4:00pm.
Children’s Contests
Does your child have that Irish twinkle in their eye? Enter your child into the Red Headed Kid, Freckled Kid, or Smilin’ Irish Lass or Lassie Contest.
There is no cost to enter but winner is chosen by the most monetary votes.
Simply fill out this form and send in a digital photo of your child.
Open to children ages 0 – 12 years old. Photo Release Application for Children Participants Under the Age of 18
Participants may sign up the day of the event at the Info Booth(9 am – 1:30 pm) but need to bring a 5×7 photo (printout is okay) to the event.
The child who receives the most money votes is chosen the winner of that category and receives 50% of the money donated! It’s that easy.
Children may enter multiple categories.
Even if your child is not freckled or a red head, all they need to have is a nice Irish Smile!
Participating Children will meet at the Clock on Main St. at 1:45 pm for a mini parade and winners are announced at 3:30 at the Main Stage.
Games and Contests
A full list of activities will be posted in February 2013. We will have many games and contests for the family to enjoy.
Celtic Concert with Celia Lawley
Celtic Concert will be performed by our Grand Marshall, Celtic Fiddler, Celia Lawley and her trio at noon. They will be followed by Steelin’ Tin at 2:00pm-4:00pm.
Stage will be on S.Indiana between Main Street and Broadway in Historic Vista.
